A new luxury car dealership is opening in metro Birmingham, and Alabama’s celebrated football coach is one of the owners.
Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham – Irondale Campus will open on Feb. 5. An invitation-only ribbon-cutting event, which co-owners Joe Agresti and Nick Saban and Terry Saban will attend, will be held at a later date.
The new dealership, built by Birmingham’s Rives Construction Co. Inc., includes an expansive showroom and a workshop with increased capacity for customer service. The climate-controlled service drive has built-in technology to check alignment and a separate office for courtesy-loaner vehicles. Customers can watch service being performed on their vehicles through a glass wall that separates the workshop from the lounge.
The dealership ensured the building was environmentally sound by installing LED lighting throughout and worked with the Cahaba River Society to ensure proper water management.
Customer amenities include massage chairs, a juice bar, coffee bar and a bakery. General Manager and Partner Randy Powell said customers seem to be most excited about the new Edgar’s Bakery opening in the dealership.
With its large inventory, space and work-stall capacity, this will be the largest Mercedes-Benz dealership in Alabama, according to Powell.
Agresti brought on Powell in 2014 to oversee operations at the Hoover location so he could focus on his new dealership in Woodlands, Texas.
“Agresti is a very good dealer, well recognized by Mercedes-Benz USA,” said Powell. “He was the person Mercedes-Benz chose to partner with Coach Saban, who has a very important day job for all of us here in this state.”
